top ten tuesday: popular authors I’ve never read

Top Ten TuesdayIt’s Tuesday, and that means another list! Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the lovely blog The Broke and Bookish, and each week has a different theme. This week the theme Β is: Top Ten Popular Authors I’ve Never Read. Let’s get started! In no particular order:

  1. Jay Asher (Thirteen Reasons Why)
  2. Lauren Oliver (Delirium, Before I Fall, etc.)
  3. Marissa Meyer (Cinder)
  4. George Orwell (1984, Animal Farm, etc.)
  5. Marie Lu (Legend)
  6. Margaret Paterson Haddix (Among the Hidden)
  7. Meg Cabot (The Princess Diaries)
  8. Gayle Forman (If I Stay)
  9. Holly Black (The Coldest Girl in Coldtown)
  10. Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte (Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Tenant of Wildfell Hall)

Next to these authors I’ve written their books that I know about. This was sort of a hard list to make, because I’ve read at least one book by a lot of authors. Most of these I’ve been meaning to read for a while, but for some reason I just haven’t gotten around to it.

I know, Taylor. No need to rub it in.

Do you have any suggestions for what books I should read first by any of these authors? What authors haven’t you read? Let me know in the comments section below!

  1. Lauren Oliver, Marissa Meyer and Marie Lu are all ones that I would suggest! I preferred the Delirium series over Before I Fall – but it’s really hard to compare because one is realistic and the other is dystopian. Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles are really imaginative and futuristic, plus she seamlessly weaves together a lot of fairy tales in a new way. And the Legend series will seriously keep you on your toes!

    1. I love when authors write new twists on old fairy tales, so I think I’ll really like the Lunar Chronices! The others sound great as well. Thanks for the recommendations! πŸ™‚

  2. Lauren Oliver is one of my favorite authors, I really recommend that you read something of hers. And Holly Blacks The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is amazing. Personally, I’m not much of a classics reader, so I’ve never read anything of those authors on your list. πŸ™‚
    Here’s my TTT

    1. I don’t know many people personally who have read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, so it’s nice to hear that it’s a good one! Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

  3. Ah, great list! While you say it was tough to gather these authors, you include some heavy hitters in terms of popularity and quality – I think you’ll enjoy reading work by Lauren Oliver, Gayle Forman, and the Bronte sisters especially. Also, love the Taylor Swift gif. (:

    1. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Lunar Chronicles series- it seems as though everyone who reads it loves it! I can’t wait to read it! Thanks for commenting! πŸ™‚

  4. I totally recommend Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte, they are some of my absolute favorite writers. Especially Charlotte, Jane Eyre is soooo good!

  5. I loved Legend! MarieLu is such a cool author and you can see her art on deviantart or pintrest. I really hope you check it out! Such a great series and she wraps it up nicely in Champion.
