“We take random events and we put them together in a pattern so we can comfort ourselves with a story, no matter how much it obviously isn’t true… We have to lie to ourselves to live. Otherwise, we’d go crazy.” ~More Than This by Patrick Ness.
When I was reading this, I couldn’t believe how true it really is. We strive to discover patterns in nearly everything, to make sense of the world in a way that comforts us. It’s sort of strange, when you think about it.

I simply adore Patrick Ness, this quote reminds me of what he wrote in A Monster Calls, “Your mind will believe comforting lies while also knowing the painful truths that make those lies necessary, and your mind will punish you for believing both.”
P.S.– Just picked up a copy of Insurgent today and I can’t wait to dive in! 🙂

That’s an awesome quote- it makes me want to read A Monster Calls really badly!
I hope you like Insurgent! I had mixed feelings about it, but I usually do with the middle book in trilogies. The first and third books always seem to be better than the middle one- at least in the series that I have read.
Thanks for commenting! 🙂
