QUOTE: David McCullough

“If you get down about the state of American culture, just remember there are still more public libraries in this country than there are McDonalds.”  ~ David McCullough

Thank goodness that this is true. I believe that libraries are immensely important, especially considering the profound impact they can have on those who take advantage of the many opportunities they offer. Not only do they provide a plethora of reading material, but they also provide the public with a safe, comfortable environment in which to pursue greater knowledge and bookish pleasure.

Now, how can a lukewarm, sloppily-made hamburger compete with that?
