The Epic Reads Tag

The Epic Reads Tag

Thanks so much to the lovely Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff for tagging me in this awesome Epic Reads Tag! Let’s get rolling with the questions, shall we?

1. If you could invite one author and one of their fictional characters to tea, who would you invite and what would you serve them?

So many amazing authors to choose from! I would probably invite J.R.R. Tolkien and Legolas. I’d love to know how he created the amazing world of Middle-Earth, and who doesn’t want to meet an elf? I’d serve tea, cookies, and maybe Legolas would bring some of that elvish bread lembas. It would be the best tea party ever!

2. What book do you wish the author would write the prequel for?

Definitely Harry Potter! I would love to read about Snape, Lily, and the Marauders when they were at Hogwarts. That would be so amazing!

3. Which two characters (NOT from the same book) do you think would make a good couple?

This was actually a really difficult question to answer, because most of the characters I wanted to use are already in adorable relationships! I’m going to have to go with George Weasley from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and Myfanwy Thomas from The Rook by Daniel O’Malley. Myfanwy (rhymes with Tiffany!) deals with supernatural creatures in London all the time, so the wizarding world would not scare her in the least! She also has a great sassy, witty sense of humor that I think would fit perfectly with George’s personality. It’s random, but I think it would work!

4. If you ran into your favorite author on the subway and only could say one sentence to them who is it and what would it be?

Let’s set the scene: I’m on a subway for some reason (I live in rural New Hampshire, so I don’t why I would be on a subway but whatever) and a few people over from where I’m standing is the one and only JOHN GREEN. Of course, I would love to say something eloquent and meaningful to him, but in reality my one sentence would probably come out sounding a lot like this: OH MY GOSH MR. JOHN GREEN HI MY NAME IS HOLLY AND I AM A HUGE FAN OF YOUR BOOKS AND VLOGS AND IDEAS AND BASICALLY YOU IN GENERAL AND YOUR STORIES ARE AMAZING AND HAVE INSPIRED ME AND MOVED ME AND I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE I’M MEETING YOU IN PERSON AND THANK YOU SO MUCH NEVER STOP WRITING AND OH DFTBA.

Or something like that.

In my computer, this gif is saved as “John Green flailing”. I think that’s a suitable name for it, don’t you?

5. What book made you a reader and why?

I don’t think I actually have a specific answer for this question. I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember, and there were so many books that influenced me early on. If anything, I think the credit should go to the amazing elementary school teachers I had because they always read aloud to us and chose the best books. I can still distinctly remember the books they read to me, and their enthusiasm for reading definitely fostered that same attitude in me.

6. Your bookshelf just caught fire! What is the one book you would save?

Wow, that’s a terrible question! My poor books! It would be really, REALLY hard to choose, but if I could only choose one then I think I would save my signed copy of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I can always buy more copies of my other books, but that one can’t easily be replaced!

7. Which dystopian world would you want to live in and why?

Interesting question! Although I would rather not live in any of them, I think I would have to go with the world in Divergent by Veronica Roth because at least after everything in the trilogy happens things will get better there.

8. What is your most Epic Read of all time?

It’s a tie between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. THEY’RE BOTH JUST SO AMAZING!!

I don’t know who has already done this tag, so if you haven’t, then consider yourself tagged!

    1. That’s a terrifying nightmare! I’d be heartbroken if anything ever happened to my books. Going away to college will be interesting… how am I supposed to leave my books behind? Anyways, can’t wait to see your tag post!

  1. Yes to the HP prequel! I really want to know more about Snape’s backstory, too!
Haven’t heard of The Rook – Myfanwy deals with SUPERNATURAL CREATURES? Whoa.
(I think John Green flailing is a very apt title for what you would do if you were on the subway and you met him…) 😀 Great post!

    1. Thanks! Yeah The Rook is a really cool book because it doesn’t have creatures like dragons and stuff but it also isn’t paranormal or like the beings in Cassandra Clare’s shadowhunter series… it’s hard to explain, but it’s awesome!

  2. Good answers! 🙂 A Marauder prequel would be the greatest thing ever. Well, maybe tied with meeting John Green, because he is awesome. I might have to steal the signed book from you 😛
Thanks for visiting Addlepates and Book Nerds! 🙂

  3. A prequel to the HP universe would be amazing. For so many years I’ve seen such cute gifts, and hinted stories of Lily, James and the crew, I’d love to see that in action. Though the ending … a little too tragic. That I would want to avoid. The feels would hurt, so bad.

Oh I am so doing this tag! Looks like so much fun!

    1. Yay! The more the merrier!

I agree- I think if she did write a prequel, it should be about the Marauders when they were at Hogwarts and then stop when Lily and James got married or when Harry was born. I wouldn’t want to read about the terrible stuff that happened shortly after that!
