Top Ten Tuesday: Hyped Books I’ve Never Read

course

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday post is one that I could go on and on about for days: Top Ten Hyped Books I’ve Never Read. There are SO MANY! Some I don’t have any interest in reading, while others have been sitting near the top of my TBR for ages. Next to each cover below is essentially my excuse for not having read it- but I’ll get to them eventually!

  1. I have read Red Queen, The Martian, The Wrath and the Dawn and Cinder. They were all excellent reads.
I also need to read A Game of Thrones, Throne of Glass, and An Ember in the Ashes. AGoT is so long. I pla to read it at some point this year, but ugh. 800+ pages scares me.
    Great list!

    1. Same! I can do 500 or even 600 pages, but upwards of 1000- I’ve never read a book that long! And the whole series is like that! :O Someday I’ll do it when I find the time!

  2. I’m with you on the Game of Thrones… just daunting, but I do want to read them. I wasn’t really impressed by The Boys I’ve Loved Before. I really want to read Girl on the Train and Wrath & Dawn

  3. We have some overlap. I don’t think Throne of Glass is for me either, and I know A Game of Thrones isn’t (length doesn’t daunt me, but gratuitous sex and violence sure do). Your comment on Cinder is funny because I gave it three stars. It was good but I didn’t love it. I hated Scarlet though.

    1. Those are some other reasons why I’m also hesitant to read Game of Thrones, because I don’t really like to read about stuff like that. I know the TV show really focuses on those aspects of it, but I don’t know how much of that is proportionally accurate to the book series itself. But everyone says they really love that series, so I don’t know… I’m so on the fence about it! :/ Anyways, happy reading! 🙂

  4. When it comes to hyped books, weeeeell, here’s for the most obvious one: TWILIGHT. SERIOUSLY. I don’t think I’m up for sparkly vampires yet. I don’t think I’ll EVER be ready, but I digress.

OOH READ CINDER. IT’S BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE AND A RETELLING. Do give it a try! VICIOUS SOUNDS FAB, BUT I STILL HAVEN’T GO TO IT >.<

    1. I read Twilight when I was in middle school, and I actually didn’t mind it that much. It wasn’t until the movies came out and everyone started making fun of it that my opinion changed. The books are okay, but nothing fantastic.

I just finished reading Vicious the other day, and OH MY GOODNESS it was SO AMAZING! Seriously, definitely read it ASAP! 🙂

  5. A few of the books here are on my list too. I’ve heard so much about The Red Queen that I know I need to read it asap. I also have Me Before You to read which everyone and their chat has been reading. 🙂

    1. Me Before You sounds really good! I’ve never read anything by that author before, so I should add it to my TBR… so many books, so little time! 🙂

    1. I’ve only read Jenny Han’s summer trilogy, so that’s the only one I can recommend from experience. But a lot of people seem to also like her novel To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and it’s sequel, so I guess it’s just what you’re in the mood for! Happy reading! 🙂

  6. Oooh, I forgot about The Martian! It sounds so brilliant, I know I want to watch the upcoming movie and read the book!
In the middle of Game of Thrones and it is pretty neat but you’re right. Complicated plot indeed.

    1. I seriously need to read The Martian soon- I’ve been reading reviews of it and everyone seems to love it! Plus, I love sci-fi books about space, so I think I’ll really enjoy it. Happy reading! 🙂

  7. OMG I LOVE how you did your TTT list this week – it looks fabulous! The Girl on the Train – not gory. Definitely a psychological thriller. I loved it but I know it’s not for everyone.

    1. Thanks so much! 🙂 That’s so good to hear about The Girl on the Train- I can totally do suspense and psychological thrillers, so I’ll definitely have to check it out soon.

    1. haha yeah it definitely seems like it’s a mental workout! I feel like I’ll need a good chunk of time when I don’t have that much other work to do in order to read it… maybe I’ll tackle it over winter break. Anyways, happy reading! 🙂

  8. I think if you enjoy fantasy, your should pick up Throne of Glass, and if you continue with the series, the author does a phenomenal job when it comes to world building. I went ahead and bough Vicious because my library was taking forever and I just really like A Darker Shade and this one sounds amazing.

  9. I’ve heard fantastic things regarding Red Queen too and I did end up instabuying it due to hype way back in Feb(?) but still haven’t read it. Soon though! I’ve made too many promises to people to back down from reading it now haha. And The Martian! Although we’ve talked about this, I’m in awe of your willpower to not watch the trailer (which does feel like it spoils a lot).

    Cheers,

    1. haha I do that a lot- impulse buy books and then they sit on my shelves FOREVER before I finally get around to reading them. It’s a habit I’ve tried to break, but it just won’t budge!
My willpower is holding strong, but I do have to admit that it’s verrrrry tempting to watch the trailer! I just need to read The Martian ASAP!
      Happy reading! 🙂

    1. I finished reading Vicious the other day, actually, and I LOVED it. It’s easily as great as A Darker Shade of Magic, maybe even better! I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

  10. The only one I’ve read from your list is Cinder and that was a really good book. Quite a few of these are on my to-read shelf actually. I’m really excited to read The Wrath and the Dawn! That one looks so good and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it 😀
