QUOTE: Andy Weir

“If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people will coordinate a search. If a train crashes, people will line up to give blood. If an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies. This is so fundamentally human that it’s found in every culture without exception.”  ~ The Martian by Andy Weir

This quote from Andy Weir’s novel The Martian is an excellent example of why humans are just so fantastic. There’s so much negativity emphasized in the media these days, from catastrophes and crimes to bad weather and heart-breaking news. But at the core of society, I believe that people have the capability of being genuinely good. We are not a malevolent race, at least not entirely. Sometimes it can be easy to forget how great people can be, to lose the positivity amidst all the darkness that is too often our focus. We can be wonderful- let’s remember that!

You can never go wrong with a Matt Smith gif!

  1. *sobs* Doctor Who is airing again on the 19th and it’s been too long. I miss Matt Smith so much but can’t wait to see some more Capaldi action!
And in regards to the quote: yes. I guess I do believe this somewhat, and hopefully if I tell it to myself more I’ll think of it as a fact. For now I’m still in my little cynical bubble – but, like you probably already know Holly, it never does me any good to be in this state.
