A few weeks ago Michelle from The Writing Hufflepuff mentioned me in her post about the Blogger Positivity Campaign, which is hosted by Jillian @ Jillian’s Books. I think this is a great way to spread some cheer, especially during this holiday season. So let’s kick off this campaign with an introduction post!
My name is Holly, and this is my blog Nut Free Nerd. I’m currently nearing the end of my first semester of college, which is both incredibly exciting and hard to believe (time flies!). I’m a lover of books, words, tea, fuzzy socks, bulky sweater, yarn, and the Christmas season. Nuts are my arch nemeses (I’m allergic to them) hence the name of this blog!
Where do you blog from?
I live in New Hampshire in the USA, but I’m writing this post from my dorm room in Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
Who or what made you the reader you are today?
I think the biggest factor that has contributed to making me a reader is the way I was raised. When I was younger my parents would always read to me before bed and throughout elementary school I had teachers who loved reading and spread their passion for stories onto me. I grew up surrounded by book lovers, so it’s only natural that I became one, too!
Who or what made you decide to create a book blog?
I have always loved to read and write, but I didn’t know that many people who had the same reading tastes that I did. I wanted a way to discuss books and bookish things with other readers as well as to keep a record of my thoughts about what I read, and blogging seemed the perfect way to do this.
What are your thoughts on the blogosphere today?
I won’t deny that there are certainly some issues with the blogosphere today, as there are with most online communities. However, I think that the book blogging community in particular is a great example of how the internet can be used to facilitate positive discussion and unite people who would never have met otherwise. Go book bloggers!
5 random facts about you?
- I own six pairs of Converse.
- I’ve recently discovered that I have an infatuation with cheesecake.
- My favorite color is yellow.
- I have never seen The Wizard of Oz, Grease, or Pirates of the Caribbean. I’m notorious for not watching many movies, which drives my friends crazy. (I’m working on it!)
- My mom and I have seen the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert each November for the past seven years. If you’ve never listened to their music, you should definitely check them out!
5 favorite books you’ve read and loved?
These are not my 5 favorite books of all time- just ones that come to mind!
