Tis the Season Book Tag

Frost those gingerbread men, hang up the stockings, and put on your most cozy holiday sweater– Christmas is only a few days away, people! Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, which is why I was so delighted to see that I have been tagged in the Tis the Season Book Tag. Thanks so much to Jenna @ Reading with Jenna for tagging me in this festive endeavor!

I don’t think I have one particular favorite winter read, but in general I like to read books that are a bit darker and mysterious during the winter. Last year around Christmas time I read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Life After Life by Kate Atkinson, both of which were fantastic.

Great ExpectationsFind a book with blue on the cover!

Oh, how I love Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I read it last spring in my AP English class and was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. There’s just something about Pip’s timeless story and Dickens’ witty, brilliant writing that I can’t help but adore.

All the Light We Cannot SeeFind a book you’d use as a star on a Christmas tree!

I’m going to have to agree with Jenna on this one: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr definitely deserves a spot on the tippity-top of my Christmas tree! I read it around this time last year and I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately… perhaps it’s time for a reread!

Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for a winter vacation!

It may not seem very wintery, but I think that Rivendell from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien would be an amazing place for a getaway at any time of the year!

Pick one fictional character you’d take with you on your winter vacation!

This may seem random, but I would take Spock from Star Trek with me. Can you imagine a Vulcan living among Elves? It would be hilarious!

The QuartetName one book on your wish list this year!

After reading and loving Joseph J. Ellis’ book Founding Brothers , a few years ago, it’s a given that his recently published book The Quartet would be on my Christmas list this year! Once an APUSH student, always an APUSH student. ❤

  1. Yes girl! All the Light We Cannot See needs to be the star on EVERYONE’S tree!! You should definitely give it a reread. I’m still not emotionally ready for a reread yet. Sometimes I take it off my shelf to read certain passages but I get teary-eyed every single time!! And I’m so ashamed that I’ve never watched Love Actually. But I will rectify that.. maybe this Christmas?!

    1. Love Actually is literally life changing. It makes you feel all of the emotions all at once and even though I usually never cry in movies I’ve cried both times I’ve watched it. It’s happy and sad and wonderful and amazing and definitely worth watching!! Okay, I’ve rambled on enough about this movie… anyways, I definitely want to reread All the Light We Cannot See ASAP!
      Merry Christmas! 🙂
