I Go CAMPING! & Currently Reading

Let's Go- CAMP NANOWRIMO (1)Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a lovely week and you’re ready for an even lovelier weekend!

This is just a quick little post to let you all know that I’ll be taking a four-day hiatus from blogging starting today because I’m going CAMPING! As you read this I’ll be lounging on the beach by the lake, roasting marshmallows by the fire, and peering out of my tent hoping that no raccoon or bears are lurking in the dark. This is my fourteenth summer camping with my family at this specific campground, and it’s by far one of my favorite times of the year!

I still have some posts scheduled (such as this one!), but I’ll be late with replying to comments and checking out all of your fantastic posts. But I’ll be back at it again in the beginning of next week!

I’m currently in the middle of reading The Princess Bride by William Goldman for the BookTubeAThon, and I absolutely adore it! Not only is the story witty and exciting and romantic, but it’s also hilarious. I love the way the narrator occasionally interrupts the story with his own commentary. It’s a bit different from the movie, but I honestly love them both!

Have you ever gone camping? What are you currently reading? Have any fun weekend plans? Let me know in the comments section below!

Yours,

HOLLY

  1. Have fun! I have not gone camping…bugs, bears and lack of bathrooms is not my thing. However, I would not be opposed to renting out a nice cabin and then doing fun things in the woods. hehe
I am reading What The Dog Knows: Scent, Science, and the Amazing Ways Dogs Perceive the World by Cat Warren. It’s been pretty interesting so far. 🙂

    1. haha that’s such an accurate description of what it’s like!! 🙂 It certainly takes its toll after a few days, but it’s worth it!
Renting a cabin does sound pretty nice though 🙂

  3. I went camping with my family a few weeks ago. Normally we hike, but my younger siblings complain too much basically, so we went about an hour from the road end and stayed there for 5 days. I read so much (like a book a day) and it was so nice. We did some day walks, ate food, rock climbing, raced ‘boats’ (aka sticks) in the stream (this was more for younger family members but hey! it was fun) and generally hung out 🙂

    1. That sounds like so much fun!! I agree, one of the best things about camping is all of the reading time 🙂 I always pack an extra book or two just in case– you never know how much you’ll read, especially if the weather turns out to be really rainy.

  4. I haven’t been camping this season yet but I’m hoping to get the tent out before long.

I began reading (round 3) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. However what’s most exciting is I found my very first Uncorrected Proof at a local resale shop the other day for for less than a dollar. 😀

    1. That’s so exciting!! I have yet to find an Uncorrected Proof in a bookshop, but here’s hoping that I will someday! 🙂

  5. William Goldman is two time Oscar winning screenwriter, and he adapted his own book for the screen. This is why both the book and film are superb! Have fun camping!

Oh my gosh, have fun camping! I could really do with an outdoor retreat right about now- go partying with wolves, try not to get eaten by grizzlies and what not. Marshmallows sound delicious. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Princess Bride. I picked it up a couple of months ago and had to put it down- maybe because I was in a slump. 😦

  8. Hope you had fun camping! We go every year at Christmas time and it’s so fun 😊 Luckily there are no bears here tho that would be scary! I’ve never read The Princess Bribe but I’m thinking about picking it up great to hear your liking it 😊

    1. Thanks, I had a blast! 🙂 Bears are really scary at first, but eventually you get used to them… kind of haha. The Princess Bride was SOOO good– different from the movie, but amazing all the same. I highly recommend it!
