Top Ten Tuesday: Winter 2017 TBR

Happy Tuesday!! I think it’s now safe to say that winter is pretty much here, meaning that it’s time to start thinking about winter TBR lists. I’m awful at sticking to TBRs– especially since I have so much to read for course work already– but I would really love to read at least a few of the titles on my list while I’m home for winter break. I know for a fact that I definitely won’t be able to read all of these! Nevertheless, here are ten books that I would love to read this winter:

What books are you hoping to read this winter? What do you think of the books I’ve mentioned? Let me know in the comments section below!

Yours,

HOLLY

  1. Wow! What a great list! I loved Dune and Americanah!! I also really enjoyed Big Little Lies (much more so than The Husband’s Secret.) You’ll have to watch the mini series when you’re through.

    1. I’m actually almost done with the mini series now… I started watching it with my friend before I realized it was a book *gasp* 🙂 I’m really intrigued to see what the differences between the book and the tv series are!

  2. Dune was excellent and entrancing, and may lead you to read all the sequels, so beware! A series of Unfortunate Events is a delightful laugh riot, full of wordplay best enjoyed by English Majors. The new Netflix series sticks pretty close to the original so far and is worth viewing, as well as the older version with the ever versatile Jim Cary , which never got past the first book in theaters. But then, it looks like your winter break is pretty booked! Enjoy!

    1. Thanks!! I love long series, so hopefully I enjoy Dune! 🙂 I’ve heard great things about the new Netflix series of A Series of Unfortunate Events so I’m really looking forward to watching it whenever I get a chance.

  3. I have read quite a few of these! I Capture the Castle is simply excellent, and A God in Ruins will absorb you then break you. And quiet is cool too! this winter I want to read, but I don’t know what yet…

  4. This looks like a pretty darn good winter TBR list and I hope you manage to make it through a few during your winter break. If I were in your position I’d probably end up just reading Turtles and then A Series of Unfortunate Events.

  5. Ooooh some of these are on my TBR too! I want to get to Turtles All The Way Down at some point, and I also want to read some Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie at some point. And I’ve heard Kate Atkinson is amazing! I have a question: does being an english major and *having* to read stuff sometime make you resent reading?

    1. Ahhh the age old question… so conflicting!! It really depends on what I’m assigned to read. If it’s something I like then I don’t mind being required to read it, but if I don’t really like the book then it’s difficult not to resent it sometimes.
