I started a bookish recommendations/advice bookstagram?!

Hello!! I have a fun little post to share a new project that I’ve been meaning to start for AGES: a bookish recommendations/advice bookstagram called Dear Gloria! (@_dear_gloria)

One of my favorite things about blogging is giving book recommendations, so I thought it would be fun to create an account solely dedicated to that. How I envision it working is that people will DM the account with what they want recommendations for, and then I’ll do a post (keeping their identity anonymous) sharing a list of books that fit their request. It could be as simple as asking for recommendations for classics to read or as personal as asking for books to help with missing friends, graduating college, or traveling alone for the first time.

The real inspiration for this account? After going through a really bad break-up last year, I turned to bookstagram and frantically asked for recommendations of what to read. Being able to connect with other readers about something so personal and challenging made it so much easier to get through. I’m hoping that Dear Gloria will be a space where people can do that anonymously, reminding us all that we’re not alone in whatever we’re going through.

What do you think of this idea? Let me know in the comments section below!

Yours,

HOLLY

  1. This is a wonderful idea! And the books you recommended are amazing! I used to love road Dahl growing up but for some reason I have never read Matilda! I plan on reading it by the end of the month 🥰
