One of my favorite things about planning for a new year is setting some reading-related goals and intentions. Here are some of my bookish goals for 2026:
- Read every day, even if it’s just one page. Life can get really busy with work and other commitments. But I’ve learned that I feel most like myself when I’m able to spend even a few minutes reading each day. The best times for me to squeeze this in are while I’m eating breakfast and right before I go to bed.
- Accumulate fewer physical books. Not only would this save me some money (and encourage my to use my library more!!) but it will also help with my next goal…
- Read the physical books I already own. I have a bad habit of saving my physical books for a rainy day, even though I may be excited to read them in the moment. I should just read them whenever I’m in the mood to so they don’t keep creating little tbr mountains all over floor.
- Care less about the number of books I read. No matter how hard I try, I feel like there’s always a little whisper in the back of my mind that is judging the number of books I read. I want to stop putting pressure on myself to read a certain number of books for no reason.

In line with my goals, here are some books that I already own that I’d like to read in 2026:
- Poetry of Love for Every Day of the Year edited by Jane McMorland Hunter
- The Invention of Charlotte Brontë by Graham Watson
- Artful by Ali Smith
- The Woman Who Borrowed Memories by Tove Jansson, translated by Thomas Teal and Silvester Mazzarella
- Sula by Toni Morrison
- Blueberries by Ellena Savage
Do you have reading goals or plans for 2026? What books are you hoping to read this year? I’d love to know.
Wishing you all a happy, bookish 2026! Take care xx
